Success Stories:
The Difficult We Do Immediately;
The Impossible Takes 64 Days.
Several years ago, Chevron had to vacate their microwave frequencies to accommodate a PCS provider with a very aggressive deadline. If they met this deadline, they would realize significant financial incentives. Unfortunately, Chevron’s own internal telecommunications department said that given the amount of work involved, the deadline was absolutely impossible.
Chevron came to L&W with this seemingly impossible task. L&W engineers deliberated and determined that not only could it be done, but that the L&W team would make sure of it.
After 59 days of hard work, L&W had completed the project, in time for the 60-day deadline. L&W had finished the project on a Friday though, and Chevron did not want to cut over to a new system over the long weekend. The final cut was not made until early the following week, on the 64th day.
L&W found out later that these sites were the only sites in the region to be completed by the deadline. This has become a bit of company lore for our employees and customers: "The difficult we do immediately; the impossible takes 64 days."
